Did you get a visit by an "energy company" or "electric company" person?

Did they ask for a copy of your electric bill?

Ask if you had gotten your $25.00 gift card?

Tell you that you are paying too much for electricity or that there is a new program that will save you money?

You have choice of electricity provider in Champaign and Urbana. In the Champaign Municipal Aggregation, the provider the city has chosen is Homefield Energy. If you opted out or live in Urbana, you signed up with Ameren Illinois. There are many other electric supply companies in Illinois.

Marketers for the "other" companies (not Ameren or Homefield) are again going door-to-door saying they are affiliated with/connected to the power supply company for the city.

If you sign up with them, and change your service provider from Ameren or Homefield, you have 72 hours (3 days) to undo this at no cost to you. Call Ameren (800-755-5000) and inform them that you do not wish to change service providers. Call the company listed on the paperwork the salesperson gave you and tell them the same. They will try to convince you to stay with them. Be firm and insistent.
